The Knights of Columbus Fraternal Order was founded in 1882 on the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.  The now venerable Father Michael J. McGivney and a small group of men at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT originally created the group to establish an organization which will allow all Catholic men of all ages the opportunity to openly profess their Catholicity and to grow as a Catholic man, husband, and father.    Secondly to form an organization which will protect Catholic families both spiritually and financially, during times of sickness and death.  In 1900, a 4th principle of Patriotism was added honoring Catholicity as being a major contributor to the growth of the Roman Catholic Church in America.  Today, the Order has grown to be the largest Catholic Family Fraternal Service Organization in the World; serving both the Catholic Church and greater community.
With over 1.75 million members and more than 14,000 councils in 14 countries, we stand in solidarity with Our Priests and Bishops, and for Our Unwavering Support of Life in all stages from conception until natural death.  Last year the Knights of Columbus worldwide donated over 143 Million dollars and 68 Million man hours of volunteer service.
